Bio

Charlie Moreno is a bass player, composer, producer and clinician, born in the Canary Islands, who has been living for the last twenty years between Madrid and Barcelona. He has attended lessons from some of the greats in the jazz world: Russell Malone, Gary Grainger, Yellow Jackets, Dave Weckl, Tom Kennedy, Richard Bona, Richie Goods, Victor Bailey and Victor Wooten, amongst others.

Currently, he is a private electric bass teacher with students all across the world and musical leader of the project “POWAFUNK,” with their self-titled recording in 2016. He is a founding member of the project Remembering Prince, as well as being a sideman to the biggest selling spanish pop artists.

Throughout his professional career he has collaborated with world-class musicians, such as Christian Howes, Chuck Loeb, Polo Ortí, Joel Rosenblatt, Till Broenner, Eric Marienthal, Anthony Jackson, Steve Lawson, Mike Ricchiuti, Phil Magnotti, Carles Benavent, Federico Lechner, Torsten de Winkel, Héctor Salazar, José Antonio Ramos, Andreas Prittwitz, Mestisay, Los Coquillos, Kike Perdomo, Esther Ovejero, Nantha Kumar, Braulio, Los Salvapantallas  and a large etc.

Charlie is also sponsored by and a clinician for the brands MTD basses, EBS amps,  D’Addario strings and RightOn! straps.

Moreno has given seminars and concerts in numerous celebrated international festivals such as: European Bass Day (Viersen-Germany), Fuzz Guitar Show (Sweden), ElbJazz (Hamburg), Bass Day UK (England), Museumsuferfest (Frankfurt) and in various editions of Festival de Jazz de Barcelona, Novas Músicas Monforte de Lemos, multiple times at Festival Canarias Jazz y Más, and he has also participated in the five editions of Todobajos Bass Day. He has also performed at the WOMAD festival.

The canarian artist has also edited four solo albums: So Lonely (2005) , Island Style (2007),  Subway to Venus, a cd  that received the award for “ Best Bass Album 2010” in the 2011 edition of Todobajos Bass Day; and he has just finished editing “From The Vault”

As an accompanying musician, Charlie has toured with pop artists such Antonio Romero, Alex Casademunt (O.T.) and the Grammy nominated artist, Shaila Dúrcal, as well as, the pop sensation Chenoa, Flores Raras and the pop-rock group Nonno, to name but a few. A notable highlight for Charlie, was his appearance in the T.V. production of “Va la Nota”, transmitted all across Spain by Telecinco.

Currently, he is touring with mainstream spanish pop artist David Bustamante, and he is as well on tour with the The Clarence Bekker Band, project of dutch Singer Clarence Milton Bekker (Play For Change).
